About Conduct of the Infallibles
The "Biography of the Infallibles" software contains the most important books related to the Fourteen Infallibles, including the life and biography of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his progeny), Fatimah al-Zahra (peace be upon her), and the Twelve Imams (peace be upon them). It is based on four main axes titled: "Library," "Biography," "Chronology," and "Genealogy." Each serves as an entry point to access coherent and categorized information about the Infallibles.
The absence of a comprehensive program in the field of the Infallibles' biography that includes at least the original texts related to studies in this discipline highlights the necessity of producing this software. In this program, the most important texts concerning the lives of the Infallibles, along with some new research and studies, have been compiled to provide a better and more complete introduction to the Fourteen Infallibles (peace be upon them). This collection offers significant assistance to researchers, scholars, and enthusiasts of Infallible biography studies. Especially with advanced technical capabilities in searching, one can easily track the status of each text, as well as the evolution and origins of reports concerning the Infallibles within this software.
Among the advantages of this project, in addition to having access to a vast volume of sources related to the Infallibles' biography (some of which are rare), are the easy and quick access to information and increased accuracy in research. Particularly, the tree-view display of information about the Infallibles and the extracted keywords has enhanced the efficiency and utility of this collection, capable of elevating the level of research concerning the Infallibles and illuminating new horizons for researchers. Furthermore, the extraction and coordinated presentation of the genealogy of Sayyids and Imamzadehs is another practical advantage of this program.
The main axes of this software are as follows:
1. Library
It includes 445 book titles in Arabic, Persian, and English, 116 of which are translations of Arabic books into Persian and English, or Arabizations of Persian books into Arabic. The presence of ancient Persian books and texts related to the Infallibles, along with translations of Arabic books, is highly beneficial for Persian speakers, especially since Arabic texts are available alongside their Persian translations. The time span of the books included in the program ranges from the beginning of writing about the Infallibles to the contemporary era.
In terms of subject scope, the Library comprises three categories of books:
* Books covering the biographies of the Twelve Imams;
* Books related to Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them) containing the biographies of the "Five Pure Ones" (Panj Tan);
* Books related to a specific Infallible, such as Fatimah al-Zahra (peace be upon her) or Imam Ali (peace be upon him).
In addition to the Persian and Arabic libraries, the English library section also contains 24 book titles about the Infallibles (peace be upon them).
2. Biography
A tree diagram of the lives of the Infallibles has been extracted from relevant books to facilitate easy access to reports and information concerning them (peace be upon them). Its goal is to categorize information from important sources available in this field. The "Tree of the Infallibles" consists of fourteen branches corresponding to the fourteen Infallibles. Information related to each Infallible is categorized under seven main axes and several sub-axes. The main axes are: Personal Life, Imamate, Biography (Seerah), Virtues (Manaqib), Companions and Narrators, Chronology, and Bibliography. Each Infallible also has a specific axis proportional to their life; for example, the "Caliphate" axis for Imam Ali (peace be upon him), the "Caliphate" axis for Imam Hasan (peace be upon him), the "Uprising" title for Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), and the "Occultation" title for Imam Mahdi (peace be upon him). A total of 234 book titles are linked to the tree, and over 50,000 unique words have been extracted from them. In the tree, besides identifying the position of each sub-topic related to the Infallibles within the tree structure, various sayings and differing information on a single topic are gathered. Considering the classification of books based on their composition date, it becomes possible to analyze and trace the origins of sayings and identify the path of growth and development of reports concerning the biography of the Infallibles.
3. Chronology
In the Chronology section, a timeline of events and incidents from the birth of the Prophet (peace be upon him) until the end of the Minor Occultation (year 329 AH) has been prepared. On this timeline, in addition to specifying the year, month, and day of the event, the concurrency of these events with the Imamate of each Imam and the Caliphate of the reigning Caliphs is also indicated. This chronology features the capability to be adjusted based on the Lunar Hijri, Solar Hijri, and Gregorian calendars.
4. Genealogy
The Genealogy section includes four books on lineage titled: Al-Majdi fi Ansab al-Talibiyyin by Abu al-Hasan al-Umari, Al-Fakhri fi Ansab al-Talibiyyin by Al-Azuraqani, Umdat al-Talib fi Ansab Al Abi Talib by Ibn Inabah, and Jamharat Ansab al-Arab by Ibn Hazm. The text information of each book is displayed in a tree format, and within each tree, other sub-trees unfold. Additionally, the names existing in the genealogy have been harmonized, and different genealogies related to a single person extracted from the four aforementioned books are consolidated in one place, providing the capability for detailed case studies.
