A Brief Biography of Grand Ayatollah Dr. Mohammad Sadiqi Tehrani (may God have mercy on him)

Grand Ayatollah Dr. Mohammad Sadiqi Tehrani was born in 1926 (1305 SH) in Tehran. After completing his high school education, he attended the classes of Ayatollah Shah Abadi and Imam Khomeini, and simultaneously, while benefiting from the philosophical lessons of professors Mirza Mehdi and Mirza Ahmad Ashtiani, he also completed the preliminary seminary courses and finished the seminary studies within three years. In 1941 (1320 SH), he went to Qom. After the arrival of Ayatollah Borujerdi in 1944 (1323 SH) and Allamah Tabataba'i in 1945 (1324 SH), he also participated in their classes and began learning from these renowned scholars. After ten years of staying in Qom, he returned to Tehran on the eve of the Nationalization of Oil Movement. During this period, he became close to Ayatollah Kashani and through this connection became active in the National Movement alongside others, while simultaneously enrolling in university studies. After a few years, he obtained four bachelor's degrees in: Law, Educational Sciences, Philosophy, and Jurisprudence, as well as a high doctorate in Islamic Knowledge. He taught Islamic Wisdom for three years at the Faculty of Rational and Traditional Sciences, and held sessions with youth and students. In 1962 (1341 SH), he delivered an exposé speech against the Shah's regime and came under persecution, so he secretly left Iran for Hajj. In Mecca and Medina, he also delivered speeches against the Shah, where he was arrested, but after discussions with officials and pressure from scholars in Masjid al-Haram, he was released and went to Iraq under guard. He remained in Iraq for ten years. There, he continued his struggle activities, and when Iranians were expelled from Iraq, he migrated to Beirut. With the outbreak of the Lebanese Civil War, he went from Beirut to Mecca, where he continued his activities until the eve of the Revolution, and then returned to Iran.

During his residence in the Qom Seminary, he always devoted himself to teaching the Quran and writing in this field, and in April 2011 (Farvardin 1390 SH), he departed from this mortal world with more than 110 published and unpublished works.
